From 10 am to 11:30 am is the tutorial portion of the workshop which covers the following:
Introduction
Basics of cutting glass
Layering and behavior of heating glass
Overview of kiln use and preparation
Assembly of projects with various forms of glass (frit, stringers, confetti)
Explanation of further techniques and uses (jewelry, slumping, wall art, etc.)
From 11:30 am to 4:00 pm students will make their own fused glass piece (approximate size 12″ x 12″ blanks). After the class we will kiln fire the blanks and then slump into the 3D shape (bowl, vase, etc.) chosen by the student. The finished glass works may be picked up in about one week.
Materials Required:
Glasses or safety glasses. All other materials, tools, etc. provided by instructor.
Cost: $150 per student for the full workshop (this includes one (1) glass work).
